Dear readers, a lot has been done about Snoek last month, even if those were perhaps small things. They are all important to bring the Snoek into production. I’ll keep it short – mostly pictures and some description.
We dachten tenminste.
Allert glued the rear wheel-well inside the body. He designed the product in such a way that it fits perfectly in one position. At least that is what we thought. But if you put a bit more glue on the areas where it stick to the body, you might get it wrong. Therefore a positioning jig must be made – to hold things in place while gluing/curing.
A two-part temporary mould has been made from the new front frame piece – the air intake (in the lower left photo on the right side, the greenish mold). We have had more photos and description in older blog post, the trumpet-shaped piece. The white rectangle the model, and blue rectangle the mould are for the swing-arm attachment on the body, described in this blog post. And black and blue triangle is so-called parcel shelf. The blue one is two piece mould at this point. Plus there is an insert piece to make the hole in the center, which you can see in the black product. This is too much work for such a small product. So we’re going to simplify that … The parcel shelf (the photo on right) is intended to reduce vibrations and therefore also noise from the rear wheel well and the body, both of which are very lightly laminated. Perhaps unnecessary for a spartan rider between us. Very welcome for long distance riders. It is 0.5m long and 48g heavy product. The hole there is meant for the rear suspension unit.
The triptych above shows rear spring unit attachment for the Snoek. This goes from the swing-arm to the top part of the body. The body part in the photos is still in the mould. The rear spring is not in the pictures, it is just a threaded rod with a damper, plus the attachment – aluminium product. On the right photo of the triptych you can see a little laminated piece – another mounting jig. So that the rear suspension comes in the same place, in the same angle in every Snoek. More about this in week 3.
